Dance Co was established in 1992, with a vision of a clean, bright, stimulating space that would encourage and enable dancers to study with many teachers and mentors in a safe, supporting, progressive and professional environment. Originally located upstairs in Arbutus Village Shopping Centre with two small studios, Marlowe Windsor, Dance Co's founder aspired to enrich her students through exposure to multiple styles and teachers creating diverse and dynamic dancers. This dream took the original 150 students to new heights and as a result Dance Co now trains over 900 students each year. Dance Co's competitive division was developed in 1993 and was designed to challenge and stimulate serious committed dancers. In 1995, Dance Co expanded to three studios, and the Junior, Intermediate and Senior companies were added to allow those gifted dancers the ability to excel without barriers. In 1998, Dance Etc., our in-school dance shop was added to better service the needs of our students. In 1999, Dance Co's growth demanded an expansion to six studios and in January 2000, we moved downstairs to our new flagship location on the main floor of the Arbutus Village Shopping Centre. Dance Co has been widely recognized for its ability to create strong well-balanced dancers. Competitions and festivals honour our students' abilities by consistently granting them awards and scholarships. In addition to Dance Co's students, our faculty maintains a reputation of excellence and innovation that is awarded within the dance community.
