Kate Shevkenek B.A., M.A, has a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. She also has a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology, with Honours, from the University of British Columbia Okanagan. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Kate is also a member of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. In dealing with the public, Kate has responsibly acquired insurance coverage and Hard Knox Counselling fees are covered by some extended medical plans. Kate is considered a traumatologist; trained and specializes in a breakthrough therapy called EMDR. She is also trained in REBT (Rational-Emotive Behaviour) and the Gottman method.Most problems lead back to trauma. There are big trauma events in people's live, but also there are small trauma events that change and shape our thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and relationships. Traumas cause neurons to knot up and block up the Adaptive Information Processing System. EMDR opens these neurons and caused them to connect functionally to the rest of the brain. This always works and the brain automatically moves towards healing and wellness. EMDR is quick and effective. You will see major changes and get results from this therapy in a very short period of time. Issues that often take years of therapy to process can be processed within a few EMDR sessions.
