Satlantic is an advanced ocean technology company that develops optical sensors for aquatic research and water quality monitoring. Our four main product lines are radiometers and radiometer systems, UV nutrient sensors, chlorophyll fluorometers and integrated buoy systems. Satlantic was founded in 1990 in Halifax, Canada by Dr. Marlon Lewis of Dalhousie University to satisfy the emerging need for precision optical sensors for ocean color satellite calibration and validation research. Satlantic's optical sensor product line evolved from the original ocean color radiometers to full optical profiling and surface acquisition systems. From the early stages as an optical sensor company, Satlantic developed collaborative research and development relationships with several world-renowned research institutes such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, Rutgers University and the University of Southern California. As a result of these relationships, Satlantic has grown to include a full line of sensors and mooring systems for water quality monitoring and photosynthesis research.
